There are three ways I can think of to view the huge government Stimulus Plan.
1. Take Rahm Emmanuel’s line “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” The Obama Administration is using the financial crisis (which has built up over the past 20 years or more) to grab power and nationalize the majority of the economic activity in the USA.
2. In spite of ample evidence that this is not a cure (Depression of the 30s, Japan in the 90s) the Obama Administration is hoping that with literally trillions of dollars, they will be able to manipulate the markets enough to stabilize the economy and produce the votes needed in 3+ years to ensure a second term.
3. The Obama Administration is just made up of too many dopes (or people on dope) and they actually believe they are solving the problem, not creating a bigger one (spending the country into a debt burden that may never be overcome).
What do you think?

I think the interesting thing about dope is how incredibly smart your own ideas seem when you are on it. You can come up with something, write it down, and then think you’ve reached some kind of epiphany. “Whoa!” you might say. Of course, once you’ve come down from your high and have a look at what you wrote, you’ll say “Whoa!” again. But this time it will be in shock at how stupid the idea seems now compared to how amazing it was when you were high.
Spending us into debt as we are doing now is a panic response. Is it necessary? That’s what’s hard to see. We can’t know the future. This isn’t the great depression – every situation is different. Every circumstance is unique. Are these guys on dope? I can’t tell.
The Obama administration will definitely spend us into debt that will take at least a decade to resolve if not more. There is no doubt of this. McCain would have done the same if he had been elected, because the economy is on the edge of collapse. Obama is probably doing more spending than McCain would have, maybe even twice as much.
Bottom line – re election will probably depend on the standard question you ask the American people: “are you better off now than you were four years ago?” Since a LOT of people losing their jobs due to the failure of the economy as a result of the Bush administration, the changes imposed by Obama will be seen as valid IF employment and business increase. That’s their gamble, and its one they have no choice but to take.
The other question is, who the Hell will the Republicans run against him, because if it’s any of the batch from last time, they won’t stand much of a chance. The GOP needs to pick a decent candidate too. Just running against an unpopular leader isn’t enough. You also have to have a popular alternative.

Health care -- how do we move forward
Follow the health care debate at http://www.ilovebenefits.wordpress.com
You will see what the CBO thinks of the Democrat plan. You will learn about waste – overuse, underuse and misuse of health care resources and much more.
